NBC5 DFW News Anchor Brian Curtis interviews a young adopter during the 2016 Clear the Shelters event at the Irving Animal Care Campus.
The event, an idea hatched in Irving, has done much to help promote adoptions. First, it drew people to shelters who had never been. Once there, they realized shelters were bright and clean with happy, healthy animals. Thanks to more visitors, shelters are attracting more volunteers and more beautiful pets are finding homes.
Irving also is grateful to NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 for partnering on the event the first year, promoting it heavily and encouraging their parent company NBCUniversal to promote it nationally. Over the two-year national partnership, 72,646 animals have found homes. This is an event that truly underscores the power of collaboration and the universal love of animals.
