National Arbor Day is April 28. In honor of the environmental observance, the City of Irving will host an Arbor Day Celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 29, at Heritage Park, 217 S. Main St.

The free event will include activities and interactive displays about trees, nature and the outdoors. Adults can enjoy live music from Kenny Chavez Band, a question-and-answer session with tree experts, several tree-related vendors and continuous drawings for free trees. Children can learn how to climb a tree safely, watch and participate in a snake encounters show, and enjoy a treehouse slide.

Attendees will receive free tree saplings, information booklets and giveaway items while supplies last. Food will be available for purchase.
