The program is custom-designed for children with special needs, ages 18 and younger. AquaStars participants must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. On a monthly basis, AquaStars provides special needs children with an opportunity to sidestep crowds and experience the excitement of play at the West Irving Aquatic Center. Participants only pay the standard facility admission rate for the program.
The safety of AquaStars guests is paramount to program organizers. The West Irving Aquatic Center’s pool features include an accessible ramp, accessible chair lift and water chair, making it an ideal location for the AquaStars program. The city will provide the appropriate lifeguard and staffing ratios, as well as access to waterproof wheelchairs.

August 12, 2017, 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM @ Heritage Senior Center
Note: This class is full and accepting waiting list registrants only.
Pickling began approximately 4,000 years ago using cucumbers native to India. This was used as a way to preserve food for out-of-season use and for long journeys, especially by sea. Even though, as individuals, we no longer are preserving foods for long journeys by sea, we may be preserving an overabundant harvest from the garden. Students will learn about the art of pickling, including methods and equipment necessary. This is a hands-on class and seating is limited. Registration is required.
